    BACKYARD FOOTBALL LEAGUE AUSTRALIA
About us
Backyard Footy is a volunteer organisation, who have received significant help from our local rural comunities here in SA's Mid North, in addition to Mission Australia and PIRSA. We are looking to significantly expand the concept across regional South Australia and Victoria in the next year. We have numerous sets of guernseys, shorts and socks and we are willing to work with communities for a great cause.

We are fortunate to have Australian Football Hall of Fame Legend and former North Adelaide star Barrie Robran as our patron. Barrie was born and raised in Whyalla on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula before going on to be one of not only South Australia, but Australia's all time greats. Barrie won three Magarey Medals and was adjudged best player on the ground when North Adelaide defeated Carlton to become champions of Australia in 1972. We are privelaged to have Barrie serve as our League patron.

In addition to Barrie, former SA state of origin ruckman, North Adelaide captain, Port Power and Adelaide Crows ruck coach, Michael Redden serves as our head commissioner. Raised in Pekina (near Orroroo) Mick was a leading ruckman across Australia in the 1980's, before moving back to country football, coaching Orroroo and Jamestown-Peterborough to a total of five premierships. Some of Mick's star AFL ruck pupils during his stints at the Power and the Crows as ruck coach, include Matthew Primus, Brendon Lade, Cain Ackland, Ben Hudson, Matthew Clarke and most recently Kurt Tippett and Jonathan Griffin.
