Appila Angels vs Pekina Princesses |

Backyard Footy's second ever women's match, was held at Appila as part of the 2009
Grass Roots Footy carnival. In more traditional move, both sides were represented
by a Captian/Coach, with Jen Harvie leading the Angels and Mitch Catford in
charge of the Angels. Some good work by Jenna Caulfield early had the Harvie led Angels in good stead, despite the great work by Kerryn Abbot of the Princesses. Genevieve Heaslip and Jane Jeffrey added majors and the Angels were soon out to a handy lead at half time. A crisis metting at half tim between coach Catford and assistant Rodney Hammat, force some changes, with the Martin sisters moving in to the middle for the Princesses with instant results. However when Josie Duke and Vicky Daly slotted majors to start the last quarter, the Angels were home, taking out what was reported to be the first ever match of women's football at Appila's Stacey Park. |
