Willalo Windmills vs Leighton Lions
With Backyard Footy making its debut at Booborowie, the Willalo Windmills, sporting the famous red and white of North Adelaide, challenged the black and gold Leighton Lions. Former primary school classmates Craig Honan and Craig Thompson were given the task of coaching the sides, in addition to playing.

The Lions jumped the Windmills early, with Pete Matheson and Brett Jones combining up forward, much to the delight of coach Thompson. James Kelly chipped in with some majors for the Windmills, working alongside James Gosse.

The Windmills fought hard after half time to draw level just short of three quarter time, but  the fitness level of the red and whites was starting to show. Sadly for the Lions they continued to pepper the behinds, whilst the Windmills were finishing with a rush and plenty of run. Leighton had a late chance to level the scores, but some solid defence by the red and whites proved to be enough as they ran out one point winners in an absolute thriller. Lions skipper Damien Clarke collected 39 touches to be best on ground, but sadly his side simply ran out of puff.
Willalo Windmills 9-2 (56)   d   Leighton Lions            8-7 (55)
