After a 38 year hiatus, Stacey Park Appila will host Backyard Football's Grass Roots
Footy Carnival. The main match will feature the home side, the Appila Prison
Bars taking on neighbouring rival the Pekina Dunnies. Chris Catford has been appointed as the Prison Bars coach for the big occasion, whilst Mark Piggott has assumed the dual role of player and coach for the visiting Pekina Dunnies. |

Women's Match Announced |
Appila has been split in to two civil war style, as the North Yarrowie Bulldogs take
on the South Yarrowie Blues in the league's second ever women's match. Coaching and leadership appointments are due to be announced in the coming days. |
Rich History of the Appila Gift to Return |
As part of the days festivites, the regions traditional foot race "The Appila Gift"
will take centre stage from 1pm. Local football teams have been invitged to
enter their best sprinters, as we search for the regions most fleet footed footballer.
The gift has a rich history, having traditionally being held on new years
day, and featuring many of the Bay Sheffield competitors. At one stage it was
the 2nd oldest race after the Stawell Gift. |
