As part of the inaugural Backyard Football League Australia women's challenge, the Canowie Cows have come in to existence. Wearing the royal blue, red and white hoops made famous by the Central District Bulldogs of SANFL, the Cows will be out to begin with a victory over their traditional and only rival the Camel Hump Ranges Camels. David Hill has been appointed to the role of senior coach, with Mark "Cueball" Williams rumoured to be his assistant. Josie Hill, wife of Camels coach Adrian, has been appointed as the Cows initial captain.
